Tenants take control at Moray Housing Partnership

Moray Housing Partnership elected their new Committee of Management last night following their AGM held in August.

Laura Grant the longest serving member of MHP’s Committee was elected Chairperson with tenant members Angela Paterson as Vice- Chairperson and Lee McGrath Chairperson of MHP’s Audit and Finance Committee. Laura said” I am delighted with the new committee and welcome the new members. I have watched MHP go from strength to strength over the last few years and with a further increase in our housing stock of 150 properties in 2007/09 and the release of 91 new homes for rent in Elgin this financial year, it is important that tenants have a major role in MHP’s future strategic development and policy making”.

Clare Bradley, Director of MHP said “since its inception in 2000 MHP has always encouraged tenants to become shareholding members of the Partnership. Over the last year, with an increase of our housing stock in Moray, membership has grown and therefore it is important for the future of MHP that this tenant membership is truly represented at Committee level, after all MHP prides itself in listening to its tenants and what better way to have tenants as the decision makers”.

Moray Housing Partnership will be releasing 40 refurbished houses for rent at Shaw Place in Elgin in November this year and a further 51 new build at Waulkmill and Reiket Lane, Elgin early in the new year.
